The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has blamed the federal government for further disruption of the Nigerian university system calendar.
The union have also accused the federal government for failing to abide by the agreement it reached with the Union during the last strike.
ASUU President, Professor Biodun made Ogunyemi made the accusations at a news conference in Abuja,
He was responding to statement by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu that government had approved the sum of 25 billion naira as Earned Academic Allowance.
According to Prof. Ogunyemi, “the Union has been on the trail of the said amount since February 2019, with no result in sight”.
He also faulted the attitude of the leader of the Government negotiating team, Wale Babalakin, saying that he lacks the disposition and humility needed to effectively carry out the successful negotiation.
The Federal government had on Tuesday announced the approval of the sum of 25 billion naira as Earned Academic Allowance for the University teachers union, leading to clap backs and denials.
