Explosion rocks NNPC’s crude oil trunk line in Delta


A crude trunk line operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has exploded at the Abura crude trunk line in Otu-Jeremi town Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to reports, the explosion dumped crude oil into surroundings of Otu-Jeremi community, causing residents closest to the affected line to scamper for safety.

Though the extent of damage and casualties have not yet been determined, reports say security agencies have taken charge of the area while fire fighters are trying to put out the resulting blaze.

The medium reported that the affected trunk accommodated OML (Oil Mining Lease) 34 pipelines jointly operated by the NNPC and ND Western on the one hand; and that of Abura Line belonging to the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, a subsidiary of NNPC.
