NECO announces dates for 2020 SCCE, BECE, NCE


The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the timetable and guidelines for the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, SSCE.

The exam is expected to begin on October 5th and end on November 18, 2020.

The exam board disclosed this to newsmen at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

NECO Registrar, Professor Godswill Obioma who made the announcement explained that the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) examinations will commence on September 21 and end on October 15.

He further explained that the BECE administered by NECO will hold on August 24 and September 4, while the National Common Entrance into Federal Unity Schools will hold on October 17.

Prof. Obioma also emphasised that the guidelines for the conduct of the exercises must be upheld before the exams.

The guidelines include preparing examination centres and schools in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, decontamination of examination centres and schools, maintaining prescribed physical and social distancing protocols by candidates and examination officials.

The NECO boss said the institutions must also ensure the provision of water and handwashing facilities, sanitizers and face masks by school proprietors, managers, parents and guardians, examination officials, candidates and security officials.

He disclosed that 169,144 students have registered for the Senior School Certificate Examination, while 104,341 students and 80,110 pupils have so far registered for the Basic Examination Certificate Examination and the National Common Entrance Examination, NCE, respectively.
