Two students, female teacher rescued unconscious


As rescue work continues at the site of the building collapse in Lagos, three bodies, two children and a woman believed to be a caregiver were rescued unconscious from the rubble.

The owner of the school, Ohel Nursery and Primary School was brought out of the rubble dead as men of the Lagos State Fire Service, LASEMA, Police continue with rescue work to remove other children and teachers still trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building.

However, rescue work is presently being impeded by the surging crowd of residents who came from far and near to sympathise with the victims.

A source at the scene of the incidence disclosed that the owner of the school and her landlord have severally turned deaf ears to vacation order by residents and government officials.

The source added that the collapsed building was refurbished as a bungalow to a three floor building and a pent house that houses the school.

The Governor, who arrived at exactly 2:45pm, said from the briefing he got from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency boss, 25 bodies have been rescued so far.

Ambode said, “I’ve been briefed that the building is a residential building accommodating an illegal school on the second floor.

“The rescue team are fully in charge and they will continue with the rescue operation. But I appeal to people to give the rescue workers a chance to save more lives’.

True to the observation of residents that there couple of houses in the neighbourhood that could give in to a little pressure, the governor  said the state government will conduct an integrity test on buildings around the area and demolish and any that fails the test.
